POS-58 and other 58 mm USB receipt printers
The cheapest receipt printers you can buy — and they print images surprisingly well once the width is right.

“POS-58” is less a model than a family: dozens of brands sell nearly identical 58 mm printers under names like POS-58, POS5890, ZJ-5890 or 58mm Thermal Receipt Printer. Nearly all of them speak ESC/POS and print raster images with GS v 0, so they work with Elysano over USB.

Setup in three steps
- Plug the printer in and switch it on. On macOS remove it from Printers & Scanners if it was added; on Windows switch its driver to WinUSB with Zadig; on Linux unload
usblp. Details in the setup guide. - Open the app in Chrome, Edge or Brave, set Paper width to 58 mm (384 dots) and press Connect USB printer.
- Run a test print, then pick an image. For logos and text use Threshold; for photos Atkinson usually looks best on these printers.
Common problems
- Diagonal stripes or garbage: the width is set to 80 mm. Switch to 384 dots.
- Faded, streaky photos: these printers often ship with a weak power supply. Use the original adapter, increase brightness and avoid very dark images.
- Bluetooth version won't show up: most 58 mm printers with Bluetooth use classic Bluetooth (SPP), which browsers cannot access. Use the USB cable.
