Epson TM-T20 (II, III, IIIL, X)
Epson invented ESC/POS, and the TM-T20 is its entry-level workhorse. It prints images from Elysano well — with one Windows caveat.
Elysano is free and reader-supported. Amazon links on this page are affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate, Elysano earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. We link to searches rather than single listings because sellers, stock and prices change constantly — always check the listing says ESC/POS and the right paper width.
| Paper | 80 mm thermal rolls (58 mm possible with the included paper guide on many versions) |
|---|---|
| Print width | 576 dots on 80 mm paper |
| Elysano setting | 80 mm (576 dots); for 58 mm paper use 384 dots and check the margins |
| Connection | USB on every version; extra Serial or Ethernet port depending on the model |
| Cutter | Yes — auto-cutter, keep “Cut paper after print” on |
Windows: the driver question
If you installed Epson's Advanced Printer Driver (APD), Windows owns the USB connection and the browser can't open it. To use Elysano you switch the device's driver to WinUSB with Zadig, as in the setup guide. That stops normal Windows printing to the TM-T20 until you reinstall Epson's driver — so if the printer is also your point-of-sale printer, consider a second, inexpensive printer for Elysano.
macOS, Linux and ChromeOS
Remove the printer from the system print queue (macOS) or unload usblp (Linux) and it connects directly. ChromeOS generally needs no preparation.
Tips
- The TM-T20 prints dark and evenly; photos often look best with Atkinson dithering and brightness around +10.
- Use the Ethernet port (on network models) for your POS software and USB for Elysano — but not both at once from the same computer.
- If the printer has a “USB interface” setting in its utility, either “Printer class” or “Vendor-defined class” can work with WebUSB.
